I started doing EPCs in North Wales in November 2018. At the time I was working full-time in an admin role and took on assessments alongside it. Getting into the industry came through a recommendation from a family member who was already working as an assessor. Once I completed the training and passed the Elmhurst accreditation, I started carrying out domestic assessments at evenings and weekends.
Since then I have completed over 1,000 assessments across Conwy, Gwynedd, Anglesey and Denbighshire. I work on my own. When you book, I am the person who turns up, does the assessment and lodges the certificate. There is no team, no sub-contractors, no call centre. If you have a question, you speak to me.

Accreditation isn't optional. Assessors must be accredited to lodge certificates. Over Seven Years Assessing Properties in North Wales
I've been carrying out EPC assessments across North Wales since November 2018. Over that time I've covered a wide range of property types, construction methods, heating systems and unusual situations. It builds the kind of judgment that only comes from time in the field.
North Wales has a distinctive housing stock. There are many older stone-built properties, widespread use of oil and LPG heating (mains gas is far less common than in English cities), a large number of rural and agricultural conversions, and a significant holiday let market across the coastal and upland areas. Working in this specific region for over seven years means I understand the local stock and can complete assessments efficiently and accurately.
Every assessment is done properly. I don't rush, I don't guess and I don't leave items blank that should be recorded. The certificate you receive reflects what was actually found during the visit.
Independent Service. No Sub-Contracting
There are several large national EPC booking platforms that take your booking online, take a fee and then pass the work to a local sub-contracted assessor. You have no way of knowing who is going to turn up, what their experience level is, or who to contact if there's a question about the certificate afterwards.
I am not part of a national network or aggregator. When you book with North Wales Energy Certs, you book directly with me. I do the assessment. There is no middleman, no platform fee built into the price. If you have a question before the visit, you speak to me. If you have a question after the certificate is lodged, you speak to the same person who was in your property.
For landlords managing several properties, this matters practically. You are not starting from scratch with a new team every time. I know the properties, I keep records and I can advise based on what I've previously seen.
